The ambiance was absolutely incredible and the service was spectacular. The drink that I ordered was called the tequila giddy and it tasted like honey and was SO STRONG. Good think too cause I spent a kidney on it. I think it's the perfect place for a date night.

This speakeasy was a fun experience! The entrance was through a narrow alley with lots of dumpster and foul odors but once inside you'll forget all about that entrance lol. The cocktails were amazing, I ordered the mango margarita (mezcal beverage) highly recommend. I went with a group of friends we all ordered something different and all of them were super tasty. Waiters are helpful with all comments and suggestions. Cocktails are about 18-22$ each. Parking can be a challenge but overall a nice experience!

Awesome vibe for a local San Diego speakeasy. Inspired by Japanese listening bars, this low light cocktail bar immerses you in old school and modern instrumental music reminiscent of listening to records in a dim, secluded music room. Cocktail selection is excellent, service is top notch. If I had to give any criticism, finding the place is a bit awkward. If you're in the parking lot looking at Taco Stand or O'Briens, head to the right, *not* to the left. The right side alley is much easier to navigate and the entrance to the "speakeasy" is then pretty obvious once you find it. We had the Buick Le Sabre and the Cayalyst Old Fashioned with a side of olives, recommend them all.

First off, we love speakeasies. We've been to them all throughout Southern California because my fiancée has a very imaginative mind and she likes coming with ideas to challenge mixologists with if they agree to it. We recently learned about Convoy Music Bar through another couple with similar interests and we decided to try it together. Finding the entrance to Convoy Music Bar was sort of confusing. Although we had a confirmation email, we didn't receive directions on how to access CMB, so we resorted to Yelp for some help which let us know that the entrance was gained through an alley. From there we jumped on google maps, located the nearest alley and made our way. Unfortunately I think we went down the wrong end of the alley because it took us past dumpsters, trash, standing water, people from other restaurants cutting vegetables, etc. we finally came across two brass bollards, so we knew we'd finally made it. The door was opened immediately and we were welcomed inside. The place is dark and very intimate when you walk in but has a really cool vibe. We were seated at the bar and were greeted by Cole. Cole was very professional and welcoming. He gave us a few menus as well as a prompt synopsis of what to expect and got things started for us. We started off with a bowl of chips followed by the salmon roe bowl and both appetizers really hit the spot. It should be noted that the food menu and portion sizes here are very limited, but were still great nonetheless. For drinks we all had our own tastes and we all ended up trying a couple things from the menu, but then also came up with some ideas for Cole to explore his own mixology talents. All drinks were well-presented, tasted great and were 10/10 all fantastic. Throughout the duration of our stay, Cole was very personable, came up with excellent drinks and was a wonderful bartender. Two thumbs up for Cole and the bar staff! So all that, why did I minus a star?? While everything about our experience was great, there's a couple things that bother me about this place. First, they automatically charged us 20% gratuity for there being four of us. While I usually tip over 20% anyways, it's a little odd that a group of 4 is considered a large group. Secondly, my friends who booked it told us that there is a $100 cancellation fee for reservations. While I can understand and appreciate a cancellation fee, this is much higher than some 5-star restaurants. Very pretentious to feel that a speakeasy accessed via a gross alley in Claremont Mesa warrants a $100 cancellation fee. All in all, it was a good experience to try once. The drinks, service and vibe were all on point!
